Recreation
Giving everyone the chance for physical activity and fun.
The benefits of physical activity are universal for everyone, including those with disabilities. In fact, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, participation of children with disabilities in sports and recreational activities promotes inclusion, minimizes deconditioning, optimizes physical functioning, and enhances overall well-being. We partner with other organizations to host an annual Wheelchair Sports Camp as well as other adaptive sports and recreational activities. Below are just some of the activities we hold through out the year. If you are interested in sponsoring or volunteering at one of our recreational activities, please contact us.
Our Annual Wheelchair Sports Camp provides youth and adults with adaptive sports, field trips, meals, and lifelong friendships.
This program is offered at no charge to our campers and their families so donations or gift-in-kind contributions are crucial!
Through the Astros Foundation, we have held many Astros Game Nights for families with a loved one diagnosed with a physical disability. These special nights can be offered through out the baseball season
We help to organize and support various adaptive sports activities and tournaments to give youth and adults access to physical activities like swimming, pickle ball, basketball, and more.
We have partnered with Houston Adaptive Sports to promote Tabata Tuesday. Free to the public, visitors can come for an hour of fitness.
